I had the honor of being the chairman of the CTSSAR Captain Nathan Hale 250 Committee, and it was my first time organizing a weekend Revolutionary War Encampment at the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse in East Haddam, Connecticut. The Nathan Hale Schoolhouses in East Haddam and New London, Connecticut were also part of the CTSSAR Revolutionary War History Symposium which included noted Revolutionary War authors and historians sponsored in part by the NSSAR George Washington Endowment Fund.
The Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) instituted the first annual "Schooldays at the Schoolhouse" educational program on June 3, 2005 for local schools, which is still held annually, and the new flag pole was dedicated on June 4, 2005. The event was also attended by the President General of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
An article on the event appeared in the Fall 2005 edition of The SAR Magazine,
